Discipleship: Phase 1: Foundations - The Lord's Supper Link:  https://drive.google.com/open?id=1vkH5yF4AnR38di8qL2cO_cddTvo2hIyH Matthew 26:17-20 (NIV) 17 On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?" 18 He replied, "Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, 'The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.'" 19 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover. 20 When evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve. What do you know about the Passover Feast? This is a great lesson for the meaning and purpose of the Lords' Supper. Check out Exodus 12:1-20 What is the point of the Passover Feast?  - As a reminder of the dramatic rescue from slavery in Egypt, the Israelites were commanded to celebrate once a year. ...

The Brick

The Brick A young and successful  executive was traveling down a neighborhood street,  going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was  watching for kids darting out from between parked  cars and slowed down   when he thought he saw  something.  As his car passed, no children appeared.  Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door!  He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to  the spot where the brick had been thrown. The angry  driver then jumped out of the  car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up  against   a parked car shouting, 'What was that all about and who are you? Just what  the heck are you doing? That's a new car and that  brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money Why  did you do it?' The young boy was apologetic.  'Please, mister...please, ...

Discipleship: Phase 1: Foundations - Understanding Baptism

Discipleship:  Phase 1: Foundations - Understanding Baptism LINK:  https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1vkH5yF4AnR38di8qL2cO_cddTvo2hIyH What do you think is the meaning of baptism? It was introduced by John, developed by Jesus, and later the Apostle Paul found more meaning. Lets look at John the Baptist  (Mark 1:4-5): What was the focus of John’s baptism? What do you think being baptized in water symbolized for all these people? Focus: REPENTANCE Symbolism: BEING WASHED CLEAN John was preparing people for the coming of the Messiah and the Kingdom of God. He warned them of their need to see how they had drifted away from God and to seek forgiveness for their sin. As people came, repenting of their sin, they were baptized as a public confession, denouncing their old, sinful way of life and affirming their new loyalty to God. They were preparing for life under the coming Kingdom of God. Lets look at Jesus  (Matthew 3:13-17): If Jesus was ...

You need a system. A system is a process of predictively achieving a goal based on a logical and specific set of how-to principles. Why is it so crucial? Discipleship: Phase 1: Foundations - The Lordship of Jesus

Discipleship:  Phase 1: Foundations - The Lordship of Jesus LINK:  https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1vkH5yF4AnR38di8qL2cO_cddTvo2hIyH Good evening, I hope you are finding our study helpful. So far we have went through Who is God, Who are we, Who is Jesus, and Why did Jesus Come This next topic is about the Lordship of Jesus. The questioning that Jesus goes through with the man is just amazing. "....what good thing must I do to get eternal life?" - the man asks in the book of Matthew. Jesus' response is that "There is only ONE who is good." Jesus corrects the man's assumption by saying that there is no one who is good except God alone. In other words, if he is hoping to get to heaven based on being good, he has really fallen short. The man presses harder on Jesus about what to do. Jesus names some of the commandments and the man basically says.....check....did it. Jesus then says sell everything and follow me. Then the young man was ...

Discipleship:  Phase 1: Foundations - Why did Jesus Come? LINK:  https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1vkH5yF4AnR38di8qL2cO_cddTvo2hIyH I hope you were able to get a hold of the teacher version to follow along with this lesson. If not, please let us know. I will be posting each week here on each Phase/Part that we are going through. I look forward to your post here and conversation throughout the week as we learn together. What I learned: I really like the thought of how God has put a plan together to bring us back to Him even down to how we were created to want Him. They outline 10 things that Jesus came for. They flow really well and create a good understanding . I find that #1-5 really set the stage for the reality of God. Then 6-8 really tell us where we are according to the plan. Finally 9-10 give us a hope and path beyond any other religion, concept, idea, or time spent searching to bring clarity in this life. I am so excited that we have ...
