RESOLUTIONS
I look forward to
a year that we can talk about culture and developing a workforce that has the
upcoming 13 resolutions as a backbone for their lives. First off, resolutions
are written resolves that are studied daily to help guide a person’s behavior
while one is forming their fundamental character. Dictionary.com has several
definitions of the term resolve, some of which are relevant when discussing
life resolutions:
1. to come to a
definite or earnest decision about; determine (to do something): I have
resolved that I shall live to the full.
2. to deal with
(a question, a matter of uncertainty, etc.) conclusively; settle; solve: to
resolve the question before the board.
3. music to cause
(a voice part or the harmony as a whole) to progress from a dissonance to a
consonance.
Resolution
1: Purpose
I know that when
my potential, passions, and profits intersect, my purpose is revealed.
Why
are people created? What is the purpose of one’s life?
Author Daniel
Pink identifies three elements that are included in a purposeful life:
1. Autonomy: the
urge to direct our own lives
2. Mastery: the
desire to get better at something that matters
3. Purpose: the
yearning to do what we do in the service of something larger than ourselves
Uncover
your purpose
1. What are you
deeply passionate about?”
2. What can you
be the best in the world at (and, equally important, what you cannot be the
best in the world at)?
3. What drives
your economic engine?
Purpose
can be then measured in your PASSION, POTENTIAL, and PROFITS
I
would highly recommend getting the book as we will explore this throughout the
year under Personal Tips

GIFT OF A DAY – The conclusion of our “Gift” study
“If we are living our lives the way we should, everything
should be in such an order that we wouldn’t change the last day of our life
from any other day.”
Through the eyes of a dying child, one learns the value of
every day of one’s life.
Life,
at its essence, boils down to one day at a time.
Today
is the Day!
If
we can learn how to live one day to its fullest, our lives will be rich and
meaningful.
Life Skills:
Faith, Family, Fitness, Finances, Friends, Fun,
Following, Freedom; we call these the 8F’s in life.
Many of these categories can tell one where their
priorities are in life by measuring the time one would spend in one of the
above categories. I know we don’t have it all figured out, but we have a lot of
great sources that speak into these items and we welcome your comments. Please
feel free to drop us a line concerning any of them.
The Five Core Needs of Life- The FIFTH need is COMPETENCE—What
do I do well?
Competence
is possible when it is found as:
- not the same as perfection; it's having
the ability to be and do what we need to be and do;
- not based on comparing ourselves with
others; people need their own competence that fits their own purpose
- specific skills and qualities with
important skills of decision making, problem solving, thinking skills, and
study strategies
When we work to develop our competencies, we'll have more
belief we have purpose and more confidence in our ability to fulfill it. We'll
also gain security in those who help us and in ourselves to be able to do what
we need to do
What does this mean?
Competence
can be developed. What are you working on and what will you find yourself great
at in 2019?
First is security – Who can I trust?;
Second, identity—Who am I? ;
The third, belonging—Who wants
me? ; The fourth is for purpose—Why
am I alive? ; and the fifth, competence—What
do I do well?
