You can either borrow it or earn it. In most cases leaders borrow it before they earn it. That’s the way it has been in my life. As a young man, no one trusted me, no one believed me, and the circle of influence that I was running in didn’t lead to any borrowing of it…..no one had any. So when it came to influencing others that had more influence than I, I had to use someone else’s.
